Rajgir, Bihar to host the 8th Women's Asian Champions Trophy

  In exciting news for hockey fans in India, the Women's Asian Champions Trophy will be hosted in the ancient city of Rajgir in Bihar famous for its holy sites and hot springs. The event will be a joint venture between Hockey India and the Bihar Government and will be held at the newly-developed Rajgir Hockey Stadium from 11th to 20th November 2024.  Last year, Hockey Jharkhand successfully hosted the Women's Asian Champions Trophy in Ranchi, where the hosts India clinched the title. Indian men's hockey team clinches bronze by beating Spain, ends mini-drought at Paris Olympics

The Indian hockey team has done the unthinkable and has bagged third place, winning India's fourth bronze medal at the Paris Olympics. India won by a score of 2-1 against Spain.  Following their 2-1 victory over Spain in the bronze medal game at the Paris 2024 Olympics at the Yves de Manoir Stadium on Thursday, the Indian hockey team earned back-to-back medals at the Olympics for the first time since 1972. The Indian men’s hockey team came from a goal down to beat Spain 2-1 and win the bronze medal at the Paris 2024 Olympics and gave a befitting farewell to veteran goalkeeper PR Sreejesh who played his last International match on Thursday. Spain took the lead through captain Marc Miralles (18’) but India struck right back through a brace by skipper Harmanpreet Singh (30’, 33’).   The men’s hockey gold medal match at the Olympic Games Paris 2024 will be an all-European encounter, with Germany overcoming India in sensational circumstances to set up a clash with fierce rivals the Netherlands on Thursday (8 August). India dominated the first quarter, with the electric skills of Hardik Singh causing no end of problems for the German defence. Die Honamas – who are four times Olympic gold medallists – successfully defended four early penalty corners, but eventually, the pressure told when Harmanpreet Singh’s drag-flick took a wicked deflection off a German foot to sail into the net.
