FIH Hockey Men’s Junior World Cup Malaysia 2023 : Germany dismantles Indian colts to a 1-4 defeat in Semis

  The Indian Junior Men’s Hockey Team went down 1-4 in a hard-fought match against Germany in the Semi-Finals of the FIH Hockey Men’s Junior World Cup Malaysia 2023, here on Thursday. The Indian Team, led by Uttam Singh, will now play the loser of the second Semi-Final between France and Spain to be played later in the day.     The first quarter wasn’t short on action as the Indian Team was awarded two penalty corners within the first four minutes, but it was Germany that drew first blood with a goal from Ben Hasbach (8’). India were quick to equalize, courtesy of a brilliant field goal from Sudeep Chirmako (11’), as the first quarter ended with the score reading 1-1.     The second quarter was rather quiet.   Kuala Lumpur, 12th December 2023:  The Indian Junior Men’s Hockey team produced a spectacular display of grit and character to beat the Netherlands 4-3 in a thrilling Quarter Finals of the FIH Hockey Men’s Junior World Cup Malaysia 2023 after trailing 0-2 at half-time and 3-2 in the third quarter.   In a match that lived up to the billing of a Quarter Final encounter between world no.3 India and world no.4 Netherlands, India exhibited immense resilience to qualify for the Semi-Finals where they will take on Germany on the 14th of December.  The Netherlands set the ball rolling early in the first quarter with a penalty corner conversion from Timo Boers (5’).   Kuala Lumpur, 7th December 2023:  The Indian Junior Men’s Hockey Team went down 4-1 to Spain in their second match of the ongoing FIH Hockey Men’s Junior World Cup Malaysia 2023 at the National Hockey Stadium in Bukit Jalil, Kuala Lumpur on Thursday. Rohit (33’) scored the only goal for India. For Spain, Pol Cabre Verdiell (1', 41’) and Andreas Rafi (18', 60’) were the goal scorers. In the first quarter, Spain started the game with a dominating presence, putting India on the backfoot and entering their territory swiftly. Despite India’s attempts to ease this pressure by counter-attacks, Spain maintained their momentum, and scored early through Pol Cabre Verdiell’s field goal (1’).   Spain were cautious in their pursuit, as they worked a disciplined structure with short, accurate passes that allowed them to create space in the circle.   The Indian Junior Women's Hockey Team faced a narrow 3-2 defeat against Belgium in their third and final Pool game at the FIH Hockey Women’s Junior World Cup 2023 in Santiago, Chile on Saturday. Annu (47’, 51’) scored a brace for India, while Noa Schreurs (5’), France De Mot (42’), and Astrid Bonami (52’) netted a goal each for Belgium.  India quickly established a passing rhythm, applying a pressing game to exert pressure on Belgium. Despite securing an early penalty corner, India couldn't convert it into a goal. Belgium, however, not only defended solidly to deny India an early advantage but also initiated counter-attacks.
