Mixed fortunes for Indian teams in FIH Hockey Pro League opener

India’s men’s and women’s teams kicked off their respective FIH Hockey Pro League campaigns with mixed results at the Kalinga Hockey Stadium in Bhubaneswar on Saturday. The Indian women’s side snuck a victory in the final minute of their match against England while the men went down to Spain. In the other match of the day Spain’s women kept their cool to beat Germany. All the goals came from first-time international scorers. Sultan of Johor Cup: India Colts register a dominant 4-2 victory against Japan

  Indian Junior Men's Hockey Team made an impressive start to their campaign here at the Sultan of Johor Cup on Saturday with a stunning 4-2 win against Japan. Goals were scored by  Amir Ali (12'), Gurjot Singh (36'), Anand Sourabh Kushwaha (44') and Ankit Pal (47') in India's win while Tsubasa Tanaka (26') and Rakusei Yamanaka (57') scored for Japan.  India's opening game win, was welcomed with a big smile by legendary former India goalkeeper PR Sreejesh, who begins his new innings in hockey as Coach of the Indian Junior Men's Team.  It was a high-octane match right from the start with India Colts playing attacking hockey, looking for scoring opportunities early in the game.  They punctured Japanese defence when Amir Ali scored a fine field goal in the 12 th  minute of the match. The Asian Hockey Federation (AHF) has officially unveiled the match schedule for the upcoming Bihar Women’s Asian Champions Trophy Rajgir 2024.

  The Tournament is set to take place in Bihar Rajgir India and a total of six teams will participate in this event, namely China, India, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, and Thailand. Rajgir, Bihar to host the 8th Women's Asian Champions Trophy

  In exciting news for hockey fans in India, the Women's Asian Champions Trophy will be hosted in the ancient city of Rajgir in Bihar famous for its holy sites and hot springs. The event will be a joint venture between Hockey India and the Bihar Government and will be held at the newly-developed Rajgir Hockey Stadium from 11th to 20th November 2024.  Last year, Hockey Jharkhand successfully hosted the Women's Asian Champions Trophy in Ranchi, where the hosts India clinched the title. Indian men's hockey team clinches bronze by beating Spain, ends mini-drought at Paris Olympics

The Indian hockey team has done the unthinkable and has bagged third place, winning India's fourth bronze medal at the Paris Olympics. India won by a score of 2-1 against Spain.  Following their 2-1 victory over Spain in the bronze medal game at the Paris 2024 Olympics at the Yves de Manoir Stadium on Thursday, the Indian hockey team earned back-to-back medals at the Olympics for the first time since 1972. The Indian men’s hockey team came from a goal down to beat Spain 2-1 and win the bronze medal at the Paris 2024 Olympics and gave a befitting farewell to veteran goalkeeper PR Sreejesh who played his last International match on Thursday.   The men’s hockey gold medal match at the Olympic Games Paris 2024 will be an all-European encounter, with Germany overcoming India in sensational circumstances to set up a clash with fierce rivals the Netherlands on Thursday (8 August). India dominated the first quarter, with the electric skills of Hardik Singh causing no end of problems for the German defence. Hockey India names 24-member Indian Men’s Hockey Team for FIH Hockey Pro League 2023-24

Hockey India on Thursday announced the 24-member Indian Men’s Hockey Team that will take part in the FIH Hockey Pro League 2023-24 to be held in Antwerp, Belgium and London, England.  The Belgium leg will begin on 22nd May and end on 30th May while the England leg will commence on 1st June and conclude on 12th June.  India will play against Argentina, Belgium, Germany and Great Britain twice each across both legs, beginning their campaign against Argentina on 22nd May. India are currently placed 3rd in the points table, with 15 points from eight matches. Taking charge of the team will be Captain Harmanpreet Singh. Meanwhile, dynamic midfielder Hardik Singh has been named his deputy. The goalkeeping responsibilities will rest with PR Sreejesh and Krishan Bahadur Pathak, while the defensive line-up includes Jarmanpreet Singh, Amit Rohidas, Harmanpreet Singh, Sumit, Sanjay, Jugraj Singh and Vishnukant Singh.
